COLLAGENASE (XIAPEXTM)

Xiapex is the only new non-surgical that has proven to be effective and is licenced for the treatment of Peyronie’s disease. Xiapex is the first FDA and EMA approved treatment for Peyronie’s disease.
 

WHY USE COLLAGENASE (CCH) (XIAPEX) FOR THE TREATMENT OF PEYRONIE’S DISEASE AND HOW SUCCESSFUL IS IT?


Collagenase (Xiapex) injections will downgrade Peyronie’s disease. Most patients can expect >30% reduction in the angle of curvature after treatment and some patients may even achieve up to 75% reduction in the angle of curvature. Although patients may still have residual curvature, many patients may be satisfied with the final outcome, others who want a completely straight penis would benefit from downgrading the level of surgical intervention thus minimising postoperative complications; patients with an initial severe curvature who would have normally required a complex grafting procedure which carries the risks of weak erection and penile numbness may have a simple plication procedure.

Patients who would have had a large plication procedure may have a small one with less postoperative length loss.
