Who gets urethral strictures?


Certain segments of the male population have an elevated risk of developing urethral stricture.
These include men who:
  • have had one or more STIs
  • have used a catheter (a small, flexible tube that is inserted into the body to drain urine from the bladder)
  • have suffered from urethritis (swelling and irritation in the urethra)
  • have an enlarged prostate
